Evil Eva captured the featured $9,000 Fillies and Mares Open Pace at Batavia Downs in a lifetime mark of 1:54.3 on Wednesday night.
Evil Eva ($5.50) went wire-to-wire for driver Shawn Gray, using fractions of :28, :57, 1:25.3 to beat the slight favourite, Ella V Horse and Dan Noble, by a length over the fast track. Thebeastfromtheast finished third for Jim McNeight.
The win was Evil Eva's sixth of the season and was her second win in last three starts in the Fillies and Mares Open Pace. It also raised the five-year-old's 2012 bankroll to $44,475 for owners Mo Coo Inc. of Merrick, New York and Jonathan Klee Racing of Mineola, New York.
Alicia Gray, who handles the training duties of Evil Eva, had a training double on the night as did John Mungillo.
Kevin Cummings and Shawn Gray scored a driving triples while dueces were wild for, Dan Noble, John Cummings and Jim McNeight as each had driving doubles.
Racing resumes on Friday night with a 12-race card starting at 6:25 p.m. The feature will be the $9,000 Open Trot with Kash N Credit installed as the morning line favourite at 5-2.
