Art I Special wore down popular pacesetter All The Weapons for a mild 6-1 upset in the $1,000 Inverness Gathering Pace, which closed out the Wednesday night harness racing program at Inverness Raceway.

With the inside post advantage, All The Weapons (Doug MacQuarrie) established the lead when the gate folded and carved out fractions of :29.1, 1:00.1, and 1:29.4 with Truth Or Dare (Ryan Campbell) applying first over pressure and Art I Special moving second over after getting away fifth in the six-horse field. As the field turned for home, Art I Special swept by the pacesetter and opened up four lengths on his foes to win in 1:59.3. All The Weapons stayed for second while 14-year-old Mitchs Ceilidh (Alex MacNeil) finished third off a pocket trip.

Art I Special paid $14.40 to win as the fourth choice in the field. The five-year-old son of Artsplace is trained and driven by Redmond Doucet for owner Randy Copley of Inverness, N.S. The victory was his third in eight starts (all top three finishes) on the East Coast and 25th lifetime.
