Field Day For Forwards

St. John’s Raceway could have easily named Sunday afternoon’s program “Forward Day” considering horsemen with that surname won seven of the tilts

on the nine-race card.

Driver Shane Forward teamed up with trainer Rodney Forward to take the opener with Camco Patricia (2:07.4) before Rodney handled the lines himself with second race winner Toronto Road (2:08). Shane later teamed up with trainer Scott Forward to take Race 3 with Even Winds Obey (2:07.4). That duo also took Race 4 with Blueberry Tea (2:06.2) and Race 5 with Delta Force (2:05.2).

Shane and Scott returned to victory lane in Race 7 with Jokers Jackpot (2:03.1) before Rodney capped off the card winning with Machthemoment (2:01.1).

So for those of you keeping score at home it was a driving double and a training triple for Rodney Forward, a training Grand Slam for Scott Forward and a five-win day at the office for teamster Shane Forward!

Another noteworthy feat on the card occurred when Quickcam matched his own track record after touring the oval in 2:01.2 to capture his Sunday afternoon assignment for owner/trainer/driver Aubrey Williams of Goulds, NL.

The three-year-old Quick Comeback colt, who originally established the record on July 11, rallied to take Sunday’s tilt by two lengths. He has put together a 7-2-0 record in his first nine starts of the 2010 campaign.
