Ammo will look to continue his strong campaign on Saturday, July 25 in the fourth event of the P.E.I. Free-For-All Series at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The capital oval has a 14-dash Harness The Hope Night presentation beginning at 5 p.m. (ADT), with sponsored races featured throughout the program. All proceeds from the Harness The Hope event will benefit the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Prince County Hospital Hope Happens & Hospice P.E.I.
The $10,000 P.E.I. Free-For-All Series event lines up in Race 13 with Ammo installed as the 5-2 morning line favourite from post two. Gilles Barrieau will handle the lines behind the Ron Matheson trainee as he meets seven of the top pacers on the East Coast for owners Woodmere Farms and Pat Morris.
Mappos Lion is the 3-1 second choice from post three with Ryan Desroche driving for trainer Taylor Doyle fresh off his victory in the $20,000 Governor’s Plate Consolation at Red Shores Summerside.
New Summerside Raceway track record holder Arbitrage Hanover has post eight for driver Ken Murphy and trainer Clifford Murphy. The five-year-old son of Bettors Wish paced the Prince County oval in 1:50.3 during his Governor’s Plate elimination before finishing fifth from post eight in the $50,000 final.
JMR Speak Away leaves from post seven with David Dowling driving for trainer Darren Crowe after finishing in the runner-up spot in the $50,000 Governor’s Plate final to Get Wings (who is absent from competition this week) while Bee Two Bee has rail control for driver Jason Hughes and trainer Ashley Gamester. Rocks Shining Star (To be driven by Brady Sweet), Twin B Tuffenuff (Corey MacPherson) and Nuttin But Finesse (Mike Downey) complete the power-packed field.
The P.E.I. Colt Stakes Graduate Series, presented by Red Shores, has a pair of $6,000 Grassroots divisions in Races 12 and 14.
Redeyetoshanghai is the 5-2 morning line favourite from the rail in Race 12, also the Harness The Hope Pace, with Adam Merner driving for trainer Wade Myers. The Tulsa King (Barrieau) is the 3-1 second choice from post six while Starship Glyde (Paul Langille) from post two and DJ Mustang (Murphy) with post eight are other leading contenders.
Big Pond Cash gets top billing in the second Graduate Series Grassroots division from post two. Merner drives the 5-2 favourite for trainer Earl Watts against Good Omen, who is the 3-1 second choice with trainer-driver Paul Langille from post four. Brookdale Layton (Murphy) and Rosiesmightymoe (Barrieau) will also look for their share of the $6,000 purse in the eight-horse field.
