Returning to action off a five-week layoff, Lakeisha Hall got the pocket trip she needed before barreling through the 'lightning lane' to capture Tuesday’s (July 24) $20,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

Fox Valley Charm took the field into the final turn but was attacked outside by McDazzle and inside by Lakeisha Hall, who edged Fox Valley Charm by a head in 1:52. McDazzle was a close third.

Ron Burke trains the five-year-old daughter of Third Straight and Lantana Hall, who extended her career bankroll to $539,879, for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Jack Piatt II. It was one of four wins on the 13-race card for Palone.

In Tuesday’s companion feature, an $18,000 Preferred Handicap Trot, Wind Of The North won his third straight, a front-end jog in 1:54.1, for Aaron Merriman and owner-trainer Bill Bercury. The eight-year-old Cantab Hall-Talk To The Wind gelding now boasts a lifetime bankroll of $943,848.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Wednesday (July 25), when the program includes a $12,500 total-pool guarantee for the Pick 5, a $7,500 total-pool guarantee for the Pick 4 and a $3,560.80 jackpot in the Super High 5. First post is 1:05 p.m.
