There were 11 New York Sire Stakes races for two-year-olds at Buffalo Raceway, Sunday afternoon, six for pacing fillies worth $20,982, and five for pacing colts and

geldings worth $25,209. Newcomer to the Raceway, Tim Tetrick not only won six races, he along with trainer Linda Toscano, broke two track records for owner Ken Jacobs.

In the first colt and gelding division, Heston Blue Chip swept around the Hamburg oval in 1:56.2, eclipsing the old record of 1:56.3 held by Roadside Delight in 2010.

“He threw a shoe,” said Tetrick with a laugh. “Wow, :27.4 is a really fast last quarter. He’s a really nice one.”

The margin of victory was 13-1/4 lengths for Heston Blue Chip ($2.10), who was the 1-9 favourite. Whos Your Maddy (James Rattray) finished second, while Clem (Ray Schnittker) came in third. Heston Blue Chip (American Ideal-Shot Togo Bluechip) was a $30,000 yearling purchase at Harrisburg.

The other track record was smashed by freshman filly Silk Purse (Bettors Delight-Silky), who went 1:56.3, breaking the old mark of 1:57.3, set by Bettoronthebeach in 2006.

“She’s a really nice filly,” said Tetrick. “She followed some good horses, and Mr. Jacobs said that’s the way she races best.”

Silk Purse ($4.50) was another Harrisburg purchase stopping the gavel at $80,000. It was the first lifetime win for Silk Purse, who finished second at Yonkers in her first Sire Stakes attempt.

The other Sire Stakes winners were, JK Fine Art (Tetrick) in 1:58.1, Weekend Getaway (Phil Fluet) in 1:57.4, Glass Prince (Tetrick) in 1:59.1, Centralia Hanover (Jim Morrill, Jr.) in 1:58, Reflection On Me (Stephane Bouchard) in 1:58.3, Arts Delight (Ray Schnittker) in 1:57.4, Handsoffmycookie (Tetrick) in 1:57.1, Forever Just (Tetrick) in 1:57.1, and Park Lane Paige (Jim Morrill, Jr.) in 1:57.1.
