Kaanabba was a repeat winner in the MSSBA Golden Boy Stakes for three-year-old Manitoba bred pacing colts and gelding contested on Saturday afternoon at Miami Fair.

After capturing his first leg division on July 2 at Holland Fair, Kaanabba and trainer-driver Dean Rey converted from the pocket to win the $7,169 second leg split in 2:04.2 over a track rated ‘good’ and five seconds off. He won by a nose over MSSBA Futurity elimination winner My Friend Don (Darryl Mason). In Tatters (Marc Fillion) was third. Rey also shares ownership of the Abbatom-Kaanapali Beach colt, who has recorded two wins and two seconds in five career starts, with Jennifer Rey.

Saturday’s card also featured a pair of $4,102 MSSBA Silk Lace second leg divisions for the fillies, which went to first time winner Giggitygiggitygoo and the streaking Kinda Special.

Giggitygiggitygoo was a wire-to-wire winner in the first Silk Lace division in 2:06.1 by over four lengths. First leg winner Some Beach Gal (Roland Rey) finished second over pocket-sitter Adams Girl (Darryl Mason). Greg Manning drives, trains and owns the Salient Hanover-Collision Course filly, who finished second in the first leg of the Silk Lace.

Driven by George Isman for trainer Shawn Worthen, Kinda Special advanced from fourth in the next division before dropping in the pocket and then rallying home to prevail by a length in 2:08.3 over Miss Tinkerbelle (Richard Remillard) and Necedah (Roland Rey). The victory was the MSSBA Futurity elimination winner’s third in a row. The Payday Hanover-Aiwa miss is owned by Kristel Olding of Inglis, M.B., and Ruth and Bill Welcher of Roblin, M.B.
