Stormont Garcon is setting the stage for a sweep of the Majestic Son Trotting Series for two-year-olds at Rideau Carleton Raceway
. With wins in the first three legs, the John MacMillan pupil has one leg left to go before he gets his shot at completing the 'majestic' sweep.
On Friday evening, the Stormont Bronze colt made a quarter-pole move and brushed to command ahead of Aristote Duharas (Stephane Brosseau) under the guidance of regular pilot Ted McDonald. The heavy favourite then lead the field to the wire in 2:01.3 winning by three and a quarter lengths over a track rated good.
Up To Speed (Jason Gilchrist) came first up to finish second while Aristote Duharas filled the show spot.
Stormont Garcon now boasts a record including five wins in as many outings for owner Eric Baker of Long Sault, Ont. The lion’s share of the $7,500 purse pushed his bankroll to $16,950.
The $7,500 fourth leg is scheduled for Friday, July 31 and the $25,000 (added) final for Sunday, August 9.
