Popping pocket to win in the Free For All last week, Linedrive Hanover again found himself poised behind pacesetter Warrawee Vital and scored another win at the $54,000 top class at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday night (July 22).
The five-year-old Betting Line gelding barrelled from his assigned outside post to lead Warrawee Vital through a :27.2 first quarter before yielding command to the backstretch. Linedrive Hanover then drafted from the pocket as Warrawee Vital rolled to a :55.3 half and 1:22.1 three-quarters. James MacDonald edged Linedrive Hanover out of the pocket turning for home and overpowered Warrawee Vital through the lane to win by a half length in 1:49.1. Poseidon Seelster finished third and Cold Creek Queso took fourth.
Anthony Beaton trains Linedrive Hanover for owners West Wins Stable, McKinlay & Fielding and Mac Nichol. He won his 13th race from 22 starts and has earned $435,980. Linedrive Hanover paid $3.70 to win.
