Deweys Katie captured the opening division in 2:00.2 for driver Sylvain Filion and trainer Steve Bossence. The daughter of Deweycheatumnhowe-Lisas Mission rallied to the head decision over Margie, who Belgravia rounding out the top three finishers in the $42,000 affair.
Bossence shares ownership on the first-time starter, who was sent off at odds of 9-1, with Stephen Palermo of Brampton, ON. They shelled out $23,000 to purchase the filly from the 2012 Forest City Yearling Sale.
Marcella Hall is now 2-for-2 to start her career thanks to a 2:00.1 tally in the second division for trainer/driver Jim Takter. He hustled the Deweycheatumnhowe-Margarita Hall miss to the lead and hammered out fractions of :28.3, :58.4 and 1:29 before cruising home in :31.1 to secure the 2:00.1 win. Luck Is All Ineed was a length in arrears, with Suegrabbitnrun was third.
Sent off as the 1-5 choice, Marcella Hall lifted her lifetime earnings to $42,000 for the partnership of Christina Takter, John Fielding, R A W Equine Inc and Jim Fielding. The full sister to Ma Chere Hall (1:52.4 - $197,658) was a $30,000 purchase from last year’s Lexington Select Yearling Sale.
Riveting Rosie put a smile on the faces of the favourite players when she captured her division and came through as the 1-2 choice. She marched to the front for driver Paul MacDonell and never looked back once she cleared en route to the 2:00.1 score. It was 3-3/4 lengths back to runner-up Muscle Babe, with Aphrodity taking home the show dough.
John Bax trains the daughter of Muscle Mass-Rose De Vie Stena for Parkhill Stud Farm, Don Allensen, John Hayes and the J And T Silva Stable Newmarket. The connections shelled out $17,000 to purchase her from last year’s Lexington Select Yearling Sale, and she’s already hauled in $31,500 in purse earnings.
Dream Act survived a first-over trip en route to a 2:00.1 tally in the fourth division for the tandem of driver Jody Jamieson and trainer Tony O’Sullivan. The Deweycheatumnhowe-Dream Of Becca miss held on to win by three-quarters of a length over Toughs Legacy, with Silent Sunrise a distant third.
Sent off as the even-money favourite, Dream Act broke her maiden for the Let It Ride Stables Inc and Robert Cooper Stables LLC of Boca Raton, FL. The $25,000 purchase from last year’s Lexington Select Yearling Sale put $21,000 into her bank account with the win.
Herecomesthebride made her second lifetime start – and her first for trainer Richard Moreau – a winning one in the final OSS Gold Series division. Previously trained by Claude Cadieux, the Muscle Mass-Keystone Bride filly brushed to the front at the half and motored away from her foes in an impressive clocking of 1:58. Miss Aultsville was second best, with Nickange Two taking home third prize.
Purchased for $14,000 from last year’s Forest City Yearling Sale, Herecomesthebride is owned by Gestion Jean Yves Blais of Montreal, QC. She’s banked $24,360 to date.
