Trot Insider has received an update from Horse Racing New Brunswick (HRNB) regarding its upcoming 2025 race dates.
The update, received on Monday, July 21, is as follows:
Officials with HRNB have been instructed by the Town of Woodstock that the July 26 and August 1 race dates be rescheduled.
A formal request was made this morning by HRNB requesting a special council meeting to clearly show that all recommendations from the Atlantic Provinces Harness Racing Commission (APHRC) safety review have been or will be completed in time for racing to resume this Saturday, July 26.
The clerk of the Town responded this afternoon to the request for a special meeting and informed HRNB that after a discussion with their legal department they would be in touch by July 24.
“We are hopeful that our letter and supporting documentation from earlier today will convince the Town Council that we have done our part as requested by the APHRC in their safety recommendations. Friday night (August 1) Old Home Week racing is critical to the Woodstock Driving Club and HRNB,” stated HRNB President Dr. Mitchell Downey.
As such the Milton Downey Memorial has been rescheduled to August 30, leaving a date for the Blood Money Stakes to be determined.
HRNB is working with the APHRC and the Town of Woodstock for dates to be rescheduled (June 28 and July 5) in order to stay in compliance with CPMA Regulations.
As more updates become available they will be circulated.
