The beat goes on for 12-year-old veteran Doubleshotascotch ($3.30), who made every call a winning one in Sunday's (July 22) $1,150 winners-over pacing feature at Inverness Raceway.

After yielding control to Tipperbackjack (Redmond Doucet) in the early stages, Ryan Campbell retook with Doubleshotascotch at the completion of a :29.1 first quarter. Almost immediately, the pair slowed the tempo down to a crawl, covering the middle half in 1:02.2. While a mild first-over challenge came from Kennairn Fame (Andrew MacLean) on the far turn, Doubleshotascotch was unwavering to the winning post, accelerating to a :29.3 final split to ice a 2:01.1 score. Pocket rival Tipperbackjack was a narrow second, 1-1/2 lengths back, while Kennairn Fame finished third after flattening.

John MacDonald owns and trains Doubleshotascotch, who notched his 43rd career win.
