Machthemoment returned to victory lane after circling St John's Racing & Entertainment Centre’s picturesque half-miler without facing any serious challenges
in the featured $575 Preferred Pace on Wednesday.
The five-year-old son of Mach Three-Memorable Moments left from Post 3 with trainer Rod Forward at the controls and he rolled through panels of :30.4, 1:03.1 and 1:32.4 while maintaining a two-length lead on the field. Machthemoment increased his lead by another half-length in the stretch before tripping the teletimer in 2:02.4
Whitesand Dimples (Shane Forward), who won the Preferred Pace on Sunday snapping Machthemoment’s four-race win streak, finished second off a pocket trip while the favoured Backriver Breeze (Anthony Williams) rounded out the top three in the five-horse affair.
Machthemoment, a winner of 13 races and $55,494, is owned Jeanette Newell of Coleys Point South and Justin Newell of North River, Nfld. In 10 starts this season, the chestnut gelding has won seven times and finished second twice.
