'Youthful veteran' Anthony Napolitano recorded the 3,000th victory of his driving career on Tuesday afternoon (July 21) at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono.

Napolitano's milestone win, which was a hard-earned victory, came aboard the three-year-old Artspeak filly Winning Words. The favoured filly had to go the difficult first-over route, yet she held off a host of distaffers that came from every direction. When all was said and done, Winning Words nailed down the victory with a mark-lowering 1:53.4 mile.

Napolitano, 38, who is the brother of top local reinsman George Napolitano Jr., is currently in the midst of his 20th year in the sulky. Anthony's drives have earned over $1 million in purse earnings for 12 consecutive years (including the last five years, in which their earnings have been over $2 million). Anthony's best 'money year' came in 2018, when he collectively steered his drives to $3.5 million in purses. Anthony has also won over 200 races in each of the last four seasons.

Anthony currently ranks fifth in victories and third in money earned among the talented Pocono driving community.
