A thrilling, three-horse battle to finish line took place in Saturday’s $2,350 Preferred 2 Pace at the Charlottetown Driving Park, and when the dust settled it was Oh To Be Me coming out on top at odds of 8-1.
Oh To Be Me was a treated to a three-hole trip by owner/trainer/driver Gary Chappell, while Perfect Escape rushed to the lead and chopped out fractions of :29.1, :57.3 and 1:26.1. Perfect Escape was tacked late by pocket-sitting Red Magician and the late-driving Oh To Be Me. The latter got up to win by a head over Perfect Escape in 1:55.2. Odds-on favourite Red Magician was a lapped-on third.
The eight-year-old son of Fit For Life-Harlequin P is now a four-time winner this season and a 30-time winner to date. He recently pushed his lifetime earnings over $50,000.
