Alfie Carroll kicked off his Sunday afternoon at Dresden Raceway with back-to-back wins, and despite going quiet in the mid-stages of the card he managed to finish the program with a bang.
In fact, Carroll completed the 10-race card with a five-win performance – a feat worthy of some attention.
He got the ball rolling with Pantchartrain (2:01.4) in the opener, and came right back to victory in Race 2 following a win behind Homemade Cam (2:01.4). He was shut out in Races 3 thru 6, but he clicked in Race 7 with Little Wubbs (2:04.4). He returned to take the checkered flag in Race 8 with May Igofirst (1:58.2) and the icing on the cake was his triumph in Race 10 with Luigi (1:59).
The horseman from Iona Station, Ontario enjoyed a career-best, 147-win season in 2012, and he’s just four wins shy of reaching the century mark in that category this year. He’s also stashed away more than $413,000 in purse earnings this season.
