Announcing Debut For James MacDonald

James MacDonald delivered a smooth and steady race call as Grand River Raceway’s newest voice during its guest announcer series, From Bike To Mic, on this week's Fun & Frivolity Friday Night card.

MacDonald called race seven, masterfully relaying the action. Although it was his announcing debut, the 26-year-old reinsman confided he’s been prepping for several years. “I call races all the time, every day at the barn while I’m working.”

Scott Coulter won the dash — the middle victory in a driving triple. He drove House Money gate to wire from post one to record the trotter’s first win of the season for trainer Shane Arsenault and partner Louis Arsenault.

MacDonald, 26, recently celebrated his 500th career driving win. He scored his first win in 2009 during Old Home Week in his native PEI. He’s also a winner of 220 career training wins and $4.1 million.

Next Friday’s guest announcer will be announced on Wednesday.
