Positive Handle For Lobster Carnival Week

Harness Racing PEI has reported that the handle from the recently-concluded Lobster Carnival Week at Summerside Raceway increased over 2008 figures

.

According to Harness Racing PEI, the live handle was positive, as it came in at $158,240.20, up $4,000 from last year.

'Oster' Draws Rail

Big Oster, owned by Vernon Paugh of Ellerslie, PEI, has drawn the coveted rail for the Wednesday night feature at the Summerside. Post time is 7:00 p.m.

The three-year-old Western Success colt won his last start in an Atlantic Sires Stakes event for driver Earl Smith. But trainer Elton Millar will use Governor’s Plate winning driver Terry Gallant in the match-up against some pretty heavy hitters.

Newcomer Smart Barney, who has been clocked in 1:57 for new owner Walter Simmonds, Summerside and trainer Wade Sorrie. Sorrie will drive from Post 5 with another morning line favourite, Beautys Spur and Dr. Ian Moore, getting Post 6.

The field also includes Littleorphan Eddie with Eddie Strongman, BJ Cruiser for Walter Cheverie and Nag with Keith Campbell of Tyne Valley.
