Since hanging his harness bag in the Zeron barn Merited Victory has done nothing but make money, and the speedy son of Victory Sam kept the ball rolling

with a sharp score in Tuesday’s $15,000 Preferred event at Georgian Downs.

The four-year-old gelding, who is owned by Rick Zeron Stables Inc., Scott Zeron and Percy Elkins sat a three-hole trip throughout the opening half of the contest before brushing to the top and drawing away to a decisive victory in a career-best clocking of 1:53.4.

Famous Mark, who threw down first half fractions of :28.1 and :57.2 before relinquishing the lead to the eventual winner, was more than six lengths back in second. Mystic Conquest tagged along to grab the show dough in the seven-horse trotting tilt.

Since joining Zeron’s roster, Merited Victory has put together a 4-1-0 record in five trips to the track. The 21-time winner has banked $157,642 to date, with just over $30,000 being hauled in by his current connections.
