Round two of the Fiesty Fillies Pacing Series for two-year-olds went postward on Monday at Rideau Carleton Raceway, with the $7,500 divisions going to C Lulujustlikethis and
Shake Omar.
C Lulujustlikethis, who was a 2:02 in last week’s opening leg assignment, front-stepped her way to a career-best clocking of 1:58.2 for driver Patrick Richer in Monday’s opening division. The daughter of Modern Art-Queen From Omaha led the field through fractions of :28.1, :59.4 and 1:28.3 before scooting home in :29.4 to post the win. Zoes Turn was just over a length back in second, while the show dough went to Chocolatine.
Sent off as the 1-2 favourite in the six-filly affair, C Lulujustlikethis is now 2-for-2 to start her career for trainer Lucille Gauthier, who co-owns the freshman with Jean Guy Martineau of Deux-Montagnes, Quebec.
Shake Omar also employed a “catch me if you can” approach to take her division. Sent off at odds of 6-1, the filly whacked out fractions of :29.4, 1:01.3 and 1:31 for driver Darrel Coville before kicking home in :29.3 to win in 2:00.3. Paix De Chine tagged along to finish second and Dixie Allstar was third.
Trainer Luc Blais shares ownership on the daughter Omar Khayam-M B Fanfaronne with her breeder, Judith Farrow of Hemmingford, Quebec. She is now 1-for-2 to start her career.
