Challenged inside and out through the lane, Crisp Mane dug deep and captured Wednesday’s feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $10,000 filly & mare conditioned pace.
Forced to a parked-out :27.3 opening quarter, Crisp Mane might have appeared vulnerable late. But when confronted by Vicky Everyday outside and Snuf Enuf Hanover in the Lightning Lane, the six-year-old daughter of Sportswriter-Designated Leader found more for Ronnie Wrenn Jr. and prevailed in 1:54.2. Snuf Enuf Hanover was a head back in second, with Vicky Everyday third.
Ron Burke trains Crisp Mane, who now boasts a career bankroll of $370,153, for Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.
Wrenn and Burke teamed for three wins on the 11-race card while Mike Wilder also enjoyed a triple.
Live racing at The Meadows continues Thursday when the 11-race program features a $5,744.03 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 12:45 p.m.
