A total of nine qualifiers were carded for Tuesday morning (July 20) at Woodbine Mohawk Park, with five dashes exclusively for the two-year-olds.
After a pair of pari-mutuel starts, freshman trotter Bar Brawl returned to the baby races and performed well for his connections. Owner-driver Gino Toscani placed the son of Muscle Mass - Baileys Breeze on the lead early, rated the rookie through early fractions of :30.2 and :30.4 (1:01.1), then let him trot home with a pair of :28.4 panels to win his test by more than two lengths in 1:584. Toscani holds a pair of slots in the 2021 Mohawk Million, and he paid $72,000 for this colt at the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale.
Beyond The Sea looked beyond amazing for her connections, winning wire-to-wire by nine lengths to record the fastest mile among the two-year-old pacers. With a :56.1 final half and :27.3 closer, the daughter of Downbytheseaside - Hot Legs and driver Scott Young tripped the timer in 1:55.4 for trainer Bob Young and owner Sarah Imrie of London, Ont.
