According to an article on uticaod.com, Vernon Downs is preparing for a multi-million dollar expansion which would enable the seven-eighths mile facility to host
large-scale wedding receptions and business meetings by spring of 2011.
The expansion is reported to be able to facilitate a party in excess of 600 people.
“We’re hoping to attract special events like weddings and meetings because right now we could host a small party but we don’t have the ability to host a big party,” Jeff Gural, chairman for American Racing and Entertainment, was quoted as saying. “We want to make this the nicest facility around.”
