Lucky Jim leads the Hambletonian/Breeders Crown Standardbred Poll for the eleventh week in a row, but Well Said is gaining ground on that trotting terror

.

Lucky Jim came within a fifth-of-a-second from equaling the World Record for four-year-old trotting geldings when he stormed to a 1:51.4 victory in his $50,000 elimination of the Maple Leaf Trot this past Saturday night at Mohawk Racetrack. The victory was his fifteenth of the season in as many tries for the Julie Miller trainee, who earned 23 of this week’s first-place votes.

Well Said’s breathtaking score in 1:47.3 in this past Saturday’s $1-million final of the Meadowlands Pace has some of the voters jumping on his bandwagon, as noted in the fact that he earned twelve of this week’s first-place votes.

The Steve Elliott-trained son of Western Hanover-Must See upped his 2009 bankroll to $1,313,500 while his overall cash stash soared to $1,914,627.
