Northfield Park featured a set of $6,000 Open events Monday evening, with Moreland Flash coming out on top in the pacing feature and Lady Rev romped in the tilt for trotters.

Moreland Flash, a seven-year-old son of Memphis Flash, led the group through fractions of :26.4, :54.2 and 1:22.3 for driver Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. before using a :29.1 final frame to win by 1-1/2 lengths over Bruisen N Cruisen in 1:51.4. Third prize went to Mybrothergeorge.

John Wengerd trains the gelding for owner Andrew Coblentz of Wooster, OH. The victory bumped Moreland Flash’s lifetime earnings to $84,328. The 34-time winner returned $8.00.

Lady Rev was a repeat winner of the $6,000 Open Trot for trainer Oliver Hepner, Jr., who co-owns the trotter with Kathleen Duszynski and John Caterinacci. Hepner once again called upon her regular pilot Frank Harris to drive the daughter of Revenue S-Red Mile Lane, and together they led the field through intervals of :28.1, :58.2 and 1:28.1 before cruising home to win by 3-1/2 lengths over Lima Legend in 1:57.3. Saintfrancis was third.

Lady Rev is now a seven-time winner 2013 and a 23-time winner to date. Monday’s victory pushed her career bankroll to $93,158. She paid $14.60 to win.
