No Catching Amazon Art In Preferred

Driver Jonathan Drury had the rail to work from with Amazon Art in Monday’s $11,000 Preferred #2 at Grand River Raceway, and the young reinsman didn’t let it go to waste.

He fired Amazon Art to immediate command and the six-year-old son of Artsplace-Can Du River didn’t let anyone go by en route to an eye-catching score in 1:52.3.

The gelding battled to the quarter pole with Mach It Big in :26.4 before getting that foe to take a seat. Amazon Art whizzed through middle splits of :55.3 and 1:23.4 before using a :28.4 kicker to hold off race favourite Mach It Big and Willies Place.

Randy Van Meer trains the 23-time winner for owner Harry Locke of Oshawa, ON. The victory was the sixth of the season in 18 attempts for the career winner of $294,030.
