Accident At Charlottetown Involves Three

An accident in Friday night's fifth race at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park sent one driver to hospital

The mishap, involving Southview Cosmo with Ron Matheson, Edgewater RJ and Jason Hughes and Western Swinger with Mark Bradley, took place as the field approached the half-mile station. Southview Cosmo, who was traveling first over, took a bad step and fell to the track. Western Swinger, who was following her cover, got interfered with unseating driver Mark Bradley. The chain reaction captured Edgewater RJ and Jason Hughes causing them to fall to the track. The race was declared a "No Contest" as a result of the accident.

Matheson and Bradley walked away from the spill but were attended to by a medical team. Hughes, who complained of some back pain, was transported by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital as a precaution. The horses involved in the accident suffered minor cuts and scrapes.
