Bettor On Than Off outlasted Income Approach to prevail after a lengthy battle in the $2,500 Winners Over Pace on Sunday, July 19 at Truro Raceway.

Ernie Laffin made the most of his charge’s inside draw, putting him on the lead and controlling the fractions through a :27.2 quarter and :57.1 half. Income Approach (Keith Legge) slid out from fourth going by the toteboard and marched forward to engage the leader swinging for the backstretch. Laffin and Legge were all out behind their geldings going to three-quarters in 1:26, and the leaders matched strides through the last turn. The two were deadlocked down the lane, with the duel going the way of Bettor On Than Off as he hung on by a head for the 1:55.2 victory. Nova Scotia Strong (Darren Crowe) looked to the passing lane in the stretch but could do no better than third.

Bettor On Than Off has won back-to-back Winners Over Paces at Truro, with a show finish in the Lindsay Construction Jr. Invitational splitting the victories. Danny Romo of Shubenacadie, N.S. owns and trains the seven-year-old son of Bettors Delight-Lights Go Out, a four-time winner this year in eight starts. The gelding, Truro's 2025 Horse of the Year, is 20-for-74 lifetime with earnings of $40,153. He paid $4.60 to win.
