Fantastic Opening Day For Forwards

The 2015 season of harness racing at St. John's Racing and Entertainment Centre in Goulds, Newfoundland kicked off on Sunday afternoon.

Carl Stafford's three-year-old grey filly Force Of Grey broke her maiden in the the first race, winning in 2:11 over veteran mare Trailer Park Lucy and the debuting freshman filly Backriver Blaze, giving driver Shane and trainer Scott Forward their first of four opening day victories.

The Forwards were winners in every other race on the card, also picking up wins with nine-year-old chestnut mare Dusty Lane Zoe in 2:08.2 for owners Stephanie Forward and Bill Hedge, and seven-year-old gelding Stoveonfire in 2:07.4 for Oral Jestican.

Inspired Art, who closed out the 2014 St. John's meet with a victory in the top class, was back in the spotlight during the track's first card of 2015 for Team Forward. Owned by Elizabeth Courtney, the 10-year-old Artiscape gelding romped to a 15 length victory in the afternoon's $535 Preferred finale, scoring in 2:03, with Muzzysenglishbaby and Salmonier Storm rounding out the top three finishers.
