Atlantic Sires Stakes Action Shifts To P.E.I.

Prince Edward Island will host its first Atlantic Sires Stakes event of the season on Friday evening, July 19 as part of Governor’s Plate Week racing at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.

The Prince County oval has a 13-dash presentation starting at 6 p.m., with $17,980 Atlantic Sires Stakes 'A' divisions for three-year-old pacing fillies in races 10 and 12.

The first division in race 10 features Chip Of Evil as the 5-2 morning line favourite with post six in the $17,980 event. Corey MacPherson drives the Eddy Doucette trainee for owner Inarush Stable of Kensington, P.E.I. The sophomore daughter of Arthur Blue Chip sits at $95,910 in lifetime earnings as she seeks to boost her bankroll over the $100,000 mark in Friday’s race.

Windemere Saddy (Marc Campbell) has rail control at 7-2 morning line odds with 3-1 Dusty Lane Dixie (Gilles Barrieau) as a top entry from post seven.

Goodmorning Nova, driven by Jason Hughes, is the 5-2 favourite in the second $17,980 ' A' split in race 12 from the Ashley Gamester barn for owners Melissa Banks of Summerside and Jason Williams of McNeills Mills, P.E.I. The Arthur Blue Chip filly rides a three-race win streak into the event and has post six on Friday.

At 3-1 on the morning line, Fern Hill Indigo (Brodie MacPhee) was a runner-up in her last three races and has post four this time while 7-2 Galway Girl (Campbell) is another top entry with rail control.

The program has $6,000 Atlantic Sires Stakes 'B' divisions for three-year-old pacing fillies in races three, six and eight.

The $7,500 Andrew Perry Memorial Trot will head to the gate in race 11. Reigning Open Trot champion Jessiejesorjessica has post six in the event with David Dowling listed to drive for trainer Jennifer Doyle and owner Danny Birt.

The Bud Ramsay Memorial is carded as Race 7. Redland Peaches is the top selection from post seven for trainer/driver Mike McGuigan and owners Mark MacDonald, Josh MacDonald, Gordon Coles and Ingham Jenkins.

Race 13 is the Medastar Memorial which has Moonwriter as the favourite with post two for trainer/driver Keith Ford and owner Debbie Element.
