The second leg of the Prospect Series for two-year-old pacing colts & geldings went postward on Saturday with a pair of divisions at Hiawatha Horse Park.

Fiscal Policy provided some fiscal reward to his connections in his pari-mutuel debut. Driver Mike Horner settled the rookie into the pocket early as Spirit Of A Storm (Marc St. Louis Jr.) paced through panels of :27.1 and :58.3. First-over attacker Sauble Attack (Tyler Borth) was able to overtake the pacesetter after a 1:27.4 third station, at which time Fiscal Policy was able to slide off the pylons and made a bid for the front. A stretch battle ensued, with Fiscal Policy getting up ahead of Sauble Attack in the final strides for the victory. Toonie Teen (Anthony Haughan) completed the triactor.

Mark Horner trains Fiscal Policy (State Treasurer - High Intentions), a homebred owned by Parkinson Farms of Lucan, Ont.

After an eighth-place finish against OSS Grassroots rivals in his debut, Shadow Warrior picked up his first lifetime victory in the second Prospect Series division. Driver Tyler Moore landed in third early as Dubai Seelster (St. Louis) hit the first quarter marker in :28.2, Moore was on the move through that opening quarter and made the lead in the front of the grandstand. A :59 half was followed by a 1:28 third station with no pressure, but Dubai Seelster gave him company around the final turn. The two rookies slugged it out down the stretch but the Warrior prevailed for the maiden-breaking score in 1:58.3. Hes A Littleterror (George Ketros) finished third.

Dr. Ian Moore trains and co-owns Shadow Warrior (Shadow Play - Sassafras Girl), a $33,000 London Selected Yearling, with Domenic Chiaravalle of Hamilton, Ont.

The third leg of the Prospect Series is slated for Friday, Aug. 21 at Grand River Raceway.
