Clintons Keepsake became the newest addition to the record books at Alberta Downs thanks to her impressive victory in Sunday afternoon’s opener

.

The two-year-old daughter of Clintons Cigar-Western Rustler used a :28.2 closing kick to propel herself into the winner’s circle, and by doing so it also earned her the distinction of being the fastest freshman pacing filly to ever tour the oval.

Trainer/driver Keith Clark rallied Clintons Keepsake to the 2:00.1 decision over Miss Conduct, who was three-quarters of a length in arrears after supplying cover for the winner in the late stages of the $4,000 contest. Silver Buckle was third.

Sent off as the 7-5 favourite, Clintons Keepsake made her debut a winning one for the partnership of Keith Clark, Allan Neurauter and Kenneth Newton.

Later on the card, Goodbadanddeugly N surpassed $100,000 in career earnings thanks to her 1:54 score in the $10,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace. The eight-year-old Badlands Hanover miss, who was still sitting seventh at the three-quarter pole, uncorked a :27-second final frame to post the win over Sign Ofthe Day and Second Fancy.

One Last Horse Stable of Edmonton, AB holds the papers on the 13-time winner, who owns a 4-4-2 record in 15 starts this season.
