The winning streak is now three in a row and counting for Iwontdothatagain who used last second heroics to capture Monday’s $10,000 Open Handicap at Century Downs.
Leaving from Post 7, Iwontdothatagain floated out and found an early four-hole position while Read The Proposal fired to the lead and carved out panels of :27.3, :56.4 and 1:25.3. Iwontdothatagain came first-over in the backstretch for trainer/driver Kelly Hoerdt, and they stormed home in :27.4 to win by a head over Read The Proposal in 1:53.3. Race favourite Cool Cowboy came up a neck short en route to finishing third.
Sent off at odds of 6-1 despite his recent success, Iwontdothatagain improved his 2017 record to 9-3-1 from 15 starts for Hoerdt and partner Ed Keryliuk of Edmonton, AB. The 15-time winner is $94 shy of hitting $100,000 in lifetime earnings.
