Audreys Dream continued his win streak at Century Downs Racetrack and Casino with a blowout victory in the $10,000 Open Handicap Pace on Sunday afternoon (July 17).
Audreys Dream ($2.70) drew off by nine lengths to earn his ninth consecutive Open victory for trainer Ashleigh Hensley and driver Ed Hensley, who also share ownership of the eight-year-old Rocknroll Hanover gelding.
Assigned the outside post in the short field of five to kick off Bring A Friend Day at Century Downs, overwhelming 1-5 favourite Audreys Dream marched to the lead off the gate with his stablemate Spinfiniti (Travis Bowman) parked and pressing past the :28.2 first quarter mark before taking over command. Spinfiniti continued to front the field to the half in :56.3 before Audreys Dream was flushed out and retook the lead. He began to open up on top as he raced by three-quarters in 1:25.2 and waved goodbye to his competitors as they turned for home en route to the open-length victory in 1:53.3. Get Thereovernight (Kelly Hoerdt) and Son Of Anarchy (Dave Kelly) finished second and third, respectively, with Spinfiniti and Nobettorplacetobe (Travis Cullen) completing the finish order.
