Northfield Park’s leading driver, Ronnie Wrenn Jr., drove nine winners on Wednesday (July 16) at Northfield Park, dominating the 15-race program.
Wrenn’s nine scores included Hit By Lightning ($2.40) in race two, Lock Three ($3.00) in race four, Artistic Dreamer ($5.00) in race six, Singin Blues ($6.40) in race eight, Victory Candy Man ($4.00) in race nine, Royal Cam Hall ($4.60) in race 10, Nordic Venture ($3.00) in race 11, R Master Scott ($6.80) in race 14 and Basilio Blue Chip ($2.20) in race 15. Those wins swept the evening’s Pick 4 and the Late Double.
Wrenn, 27, began driving in 2008 and has since garnered 1,715 career victories and has $6,388,278 in total purse earnings. He has posted 262 victories so far this year over Northfield’s Flying Turns, placing him on top of the local driving ranks. Chasing in the Northfield standing are Josh Sutton (252), Aaron Merriman (205), Kurt Sugg (93) and Keith Kash Jr. (85).
Wrenn drives at other racing venues on his days off from Northfield. He has been winning at impressive rates wherever he goes. To date, Wrenn has piloted 390 wins so far in 2014, ranking him as the second winngest driver in North America. Wrenn won the national driving title last year by posting 714 wins in 2013.
