Dresden Raceway will be hosting the second leg of the second annual OLG Ontario Women's Driver's Championship on Sunday (July 17).
The top female harness drivers in the province will be showcasing their talents on Sunday in the first five races as part of a five-track points-based Championship.
"It's grown from two tracks (Hanover and Dresden) to five tracks and has grown in popularity," said Hanover Raceway General Manager Steve Fitzsimmons, who was the mastermind behind the competition. "We are so thankful to all sponsors, especially for OLG for their support of this event."
The drivers competing include last year's champion Natasha Day, Marie-Claude Auger, Marielle Enberg, Pam Forgie, Samara Johnson, Maggie Jones, Debi O'Brien-Moran, Julie Walker and Brittany Kennedy.
The series starts at Hanover Raceway on Saturday (July 16) and culminates at Western Fair Raceway on October 14.
There will be an autograph session with the participants on Sunday at Dresden.
"This is such a great thing for the sport. These ladies are an inspiration to all girls involved with horses of what they can achieve. It's even bigger than that, it can show all young ladies that they can achieve any dream that they wish to accomplish." said Dresden Raceway's Gary Patterson.
