Winless this year until joining the latest Pop-Up Series for pacing mares at Woodbine Mohawk Park, Mia Culpa reeled off her third straight win as she took the $20,000 finale on Friday night (July 15).

Driver Louis-Philippe Roy sent the popular Jean Tourigny trainee three-wide around the parked out Marzannk Hanover at the third quarter mark and caught pacesetter Custard Lite (:27.1, :55, 1:23.4) at the finish line for the 1:52.1 victory by three-quarters of a length. Tuggingoncredit completed the top three, finishing 2-1/4 lengths behind.

Mia Culpa joined the series in the July 1 second leg on a winning note, taking a lifetime mark of 1:51.1, and followed up that victory with another preliminary score last week. Sent postward as the 1-5 favourite in the final, she paid $2.70 to win.

Mia Culpa has now banked nearly $30,000 through 11 starts this year for owners Roland Trudel and Andre Legare.  Lifetime, the five-year-old Shadow Play mare has won 13 races and more than $215,000.

Best Honey Hanover, driven by Austin Sorrie, out-kicked a game Charmbo Brie in the stretch to take the $12,500 series consolation in 1:52.4 by half a length for trainer Macy Cassell and owner Keith Cassell.

The series was for fillies and mares that have started for a purse of $10,000 or less in one of last four starts.
