Sent off as an even-money shot at post time, No Pan Intended gelding Intended Royalty ($4.00) won his second consecutive tilt at Inverness Raceway with a 1:58.3 mile on Sunday, July 16.

Trainer Randy Copley sent his pupil out for the final race on Inverness’ seven-dash card and the six-year-old lined up in Post 5 for the $1,100 affair.

With Redmond Doucet in the sulky, Intended Royalty was parked to the quarter in :28.1 and past the half in :56.4. The bay was charted in second at the third marker, which sprung to life in 1:27.1.

It was all Intended Royalty in the final quarter, as the gelding was able to separate himself from the field a bit and post a two and a quarter-length victory in 1:58.3.

After having raced fourth during the contest, Lyndale Royal (driven by Gerald Kennedy) came on to finish second. Euchred, who carried a five-race win streak into the affair, raced third in the mile and ended up holding that position at the wire, as he settled for the show dough.

Randy Copley shares ownership of Intended Royalty along with Edward Copley, both of Inverness, NS.
