Bob McClure extended his lead in the driver standings at Grand River Raceway with victories in half of Bring A Friend Night's harness races on Friday, July 15 in Elora, Ont.

McClure opened the 10-race program with a 20-1 upset aboard Vimy Ridge Vesta ($42.40) and earned victories in races three through five with Let Em Bounce ($3.60), Miss Dragonfire ($11.20) and his own trotting mare Withahearttomatch ($9.60). The 25-year-old reinsman concluded his five-win performance driving Insincerity ($3.70) to victory lane in the seventh race.

McClure currently sits atop the local leaderboard with 41 Grand River wins on the year -- 10 more than Canada-wide win leader Alfie Carroll. With 255 wins overall in 2016, McClure is on pace to smash his career record of 340 from last year.

Grand River's Bring A Friend Night promotions included free programs and betting vouchers, a prize draw for a $200 wager, entertainment between races courtesy 107.5 FM Dave Rocks as well as NEIGHbourhood activities and behind-the-scenes barn tours for kids.

Bring A Friend will continue all weekend with racing action on Saturday, July 16 at Hiawatha Horse Park, Hanover Raceway and Mohawk Racetrack. On Sunday, July 17, Bring A Friend will continue virtually coast-to-coast at Truro Raceway, Century Downs Racetrack & Casino, Clinton Raceway and Rideau Carleton Raceway.
