Rookie Colts Battle In Summerside

Fans at Summerside Raceway on Thursday evening got a good look at the newest wave of rookie stars

as the half-miler hosted Atlantic Sires Stakes action for pacing colts and geldings. There were a trio of $8,880 “A” divisions contested, in addition to a three-pack of $2,500 “B” events.

T M Top Gun was a maiden-breaking winner in the first split for the “A” division pacers. He sat a perfect pocket trip throughout the mile for trainer/driver Darren Crowe, who angled the son of Western Paradise-Direct Memory to the outside in the late stages of the mile en route to rallying to a 2:00 score over Ringmaster and Box Car Johnnie. T M Top Gun is owned by the Nova Scotia partnership of Hardy Mill Stable and GLB Stable.

Allbentouttashape took a new lifetime record of 1:58.2 in the second split, and in doing so the son of Quick Comeback-C A Lady stepped to his third victory in as many tries. Kenny Arsenault rolled the Sean Dooley trainee through panels of :28.3, :59 and 1:29 before kicking home in :29.2 en route to winning by more than six lengths over Freddy My Boy and Island Redemption. The youngster has banked $7,201 to date for Dooley Boys Racing Stable of Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Full Of Finesse also employed gate-to-wire tactics to capture the final “A” affair. The son of Force Of Hope-Happys Imp and trainer/driver Bernard McCallum led through fractions of :29.2, 1:02 and 1:32.2 before sprinting home in :29.2 to stop the clock in 2:01.4. Goin Large was second and Dr Alexander B finished third. It was a maiden-breaking decision for the pacer, who is owned by Donald Porter of Belmont, Nova Scotia.

The $2,500 “B” divisions went to Fitelle (2:02.1), R Es Wade (2:06.4) and Woodmere Fools Sun (2:07.2).
