An article by The Calgary Herald today offers reaction to the announcement by the United Horsemen of Alberta that the organization is in "serious financial discussions"
with debt providers and equity participants in regard to the proposed racetrack in Balzac, Alta.
"I'm comfortable that we'll have some racing in 2010, and we'll be fully rolling in 2011," the article quotes UHA CEO Max Gibb as saying.
"With Max, deadlines are moving targets," Mat Monaco, executive director of the Alberta Horsemen's Benevolent Protection Association, was quoted as saying yesterday.
"I'm encouraged that they're (UHA) still committed to the project," Horse Racing Alberta chair Shirley McClellan said.
