Trainer/driver Logan Gillis put Stash The Cookies on top early and scored a repeat victory in Century Downs' $13,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace during the first Friday evening card of the summer at the Calgary oval.

Stash The Cookies forged to the front in the Friday feature from post two through a contested 27-second opening quarter with 7-5 favourite Betcha Baby (Brandon Campbell) racing three-wide early on before settling into the two-hole ahead of inside leaver Past Affair (Dave Kelly).

After a :56.3 half, Stash The Cookies began to open up three lengths on her rivals down the backstretch to three-quarters in 1:24.1 and cruised home for the repeat victory in 1:53.1. Betcha Baby and Past Affair chased the winner home in second and third.

Sent postward as the 7-2 third choice in the field of seven, Stash The Cookies paid $9.80 to win.

The six-year-old Sunfire Blue Chip mare, who did not race in 2021, now has six wins and nine other top three finishes from 17 starts this year. The lion's share of the purse pushed her seasonal earnings to $54,826 and lifetime bankroll to $179,979. She joined the Gillis stable in June and is owned by Derek Gilbert of Brandon, Man.

Live harness racing continues at Century Downs on Saturday afternoon, with a 2:15 p.m. post time.
