It has been announced that Scott M. Finley has joined the New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) as its Director of Simulcasting, effective August 1.

Finley comes to NYRA with an extensive background in business development, marketing and technology in the thoroughbred racing industry and has been an international racing consultant since 2001. Prior to that, Finley was the vice president of marketing for Autotote Systems, Inc. (now Sportech). He also served in various management capacities at Daily Racing Form and The Racing Times.

A graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, Finley completed the pre-MBA program at Babson College’s School of Executive Education and has been a confirmed racing aficionado since his university days. He has contributed freelance articles on racing analysis, handicapping strategies, new media, and racing industry systems technology to publications such as USA Today, Thoroughbred Daily News, The Blood-Horse and HorsePlayer magazines.

In his capacity as Director of Simulcasting, Finley will manage and oversee the export of television simulcasts of NYRA racing to more than 1,000 outlets worldwide, as well as the import to Saratoga Race Course, Belmont Park and Aqueduct Racetrack of racing simulcasts throughout the United States, Canada, and abroad.

“We are delighted to have Scott Finley join our management team,” said David O’Rourke, NYRA’s vice president for corporate development. “His technical knowledge and experience will be important elements in overseeing our simulcast sales and imports, which are a critical revenue stream.”

Finley will be filling the position vacated by Elizabeth Bracken, who is leaving NYRA to teach at the University of Arizona’s Racetrack Industry Program.
