It’s only July and Remember Titans has already racked his 10th win of the season after taking the $20,000 Open Handicap trotting feature at Plainridge Park on Thursday afternoon (July 14).
The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono shipper Blenheim left hard and opened a two-length advantage as he skated past quarters in :27.4 and :56.2. Remember Titans (Jay Randall) drafted second in a loose pocket and the remainder of the field tried to keep pace.
Halfway up the backside, Remember Titans got closer to the leader and then shortly after entering the far turn, Blenheim made a break and Remember Titans inherited a two-length lead. Trix And Stones was in full flight driving hard with Marquis Lafayette and Raybarnz joining in pursuit, but Remember Titans was under minimal urging and cruised home on top by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:53.3, which was a lifetime mark.
Having a career year, Remember Titans now has $113,269 in earnings to go along with his gaudy number of wins for owners Kellogg Racing Stables and Jackie Greene Racing Stables. Jackie Greene also trains the $5.80 winner and Jay Randall was in the bike.
Driver Bruce Ranger and trainer Domenico Cecere had themselves a big day as they combined for three victories. Goodashim (1:55.2, $2.60) won the secondary featured $15,000 conditioned trot in a personal season’s best time, Origin Story (1:55.4, $2.60) scored her third-consecutive win and the Massachusetts-bred Moni Heist (1:56.2, $4.00) captured her first win of the year.
Ranger also won with Only Passing Through (1:56.2, $9.40) giving him a grand slam for the day. He also finished second once and third twice in his nine starts giving him a lofty .580 UDR for his efforts.
