In a short two-week span claiming pacer Grissini has gone from being a longtime loser to the little engine that could for trainer Jason McGinnis

The nine-year-old son of Cams Card Shark entered a July 4 assignment at Flamboro Downs toting with him a 75-race losing streak. The string of bad luck ended that day when the pacer rallied to win a $5,900 conditioned assignment in 1:54.3 for driver Billy Davis, Jr. The most ironic part of the victory was the fact that he did so as the 4-5 favourite! A 75-race losing streak, yet a pacer that got oodles of support from the Flamboro faithful.
Nine days after the long awaited return to victory lane, the pacer took his show on the road to Kawartha Downs. And for the second consecutive start, the pacer got the job done. He rallied to a Tuesday triumph for Davis, Jr. and trainer McGinnis in a career-best clocking of 1:53.4. He was sent off at odds of 7-2 in the $8,000 affair.
McGinnis and partner Jeff Wellwood shelled out $12,000 to claim Grissini on February 18, 2010, and after going through a rough patch at first the pacer has turned into a winning machine.
In the quest to complete the hat trick, McGinnis has entered Grissini into an $8,100 conditioned assignment at Flamboro Downs on Friday, July 16. The career winner of $319,712 has drawn Post 3 in that card’s sixth race.
