Silver Beast, for the fifth start in a row, went coast-to-coast at Georgian Downs to extend his winning streak to five on Sunday, July 13.

J.R. Plante once again utilized the gelding’s big gate speed, crossing him over from the outside post seven onto the lead entering the first turn in the $11,000 optional claiming contest. Silver Beast was never headed as he rattled off solid fractions of :27.4, :55.3, and 1:23.2, stringing out the field as he motored down the backstretch. None of his six rivals were able to trouble Silver Beast, and he marched home to score in 1:52.1, two lengths clear of Harry G (Scott Young), who got by Going Fast (Daryl Thiessen) late for place. The winner returned $4.70.

Silver Beast has gotten every call in five straight starts while ascending the Georgian class ladder for Team Waxman, who have claimed him on four separate occasions, most recently for $8,000 on June 1. Tess Waxman of Ridgeville, Ont. trains the Betterthancheddar-Danika Patrix gelding and shares ownership with Levi Kuepfer of Millbank, Ont. Silver Beast is now 32-for-142 lifetime with $245,089 in earnings.
