Yearling Euthanized After EEE Positive

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has announced that a case of Eastern Equine Encephalitis was recently detected in a Standardbred yearling, who has since been euthanized.

It was announced that the yearling, who was a filly, displayed rapid progression of neurological signs, and was confirmed EEE positive on Saturday, July, 11. The filly had displayed the onset of clinical signs on Saturday, July 4.

The positive was Florida's ninth confirmed case of EEE for the 2020 calendar year.
