Things didn’t start out very well for Aaron Byron on Thursday at Kawartha Downs on Thursday considering he finished sixth with his drive in the opener, but things took a turn for the better in the very next race and it snowballed from there.
Byron finished the card with a total of five trips to victory lane, thus bringing his yearly win total to 83 and his lifetime number to 882. The Cambridge, ON reinsman, who recently surpassed $7 million in lifetime earnings, took Race 2 with Ideal Reel (1:57.3) and he returned to victory lane in Race 5 with Jetta Flys (1:52.3).
He turned a two-hole trip into rallying score with Windsun Callum (1:53.4) in Race 8, and he tacked on wins with Rhea Blue Chip (1:54.4) and Hidden Hall (1:55).
Byron currently holds down a third-place ranking in Kawartha Downs’ drivers’ standings with 90 trips to the winner’s circle.
