Tim Tetrick, the leading driver at Harrah’s Philadelphia, won six races, the most on the card of any driver, and swept the $12,600 features on a hot Wednesday (July 12) afternoon at the southeast Pennsylvania riverside oval.
Not only did Tetrick take both features, but he won them by a combined 11-1/2 lengths.
First up was the Captaintreacherous sophomore pacing filly Daffled Hanover, who moved early for command and left her closest competitor 6-1/2 lengths behind while taking a new mark of 1:51.1. Second, third and fourth in recent Pennsylvania Sire Stakes action, Daffled Hanover took advantage of the easier opportunity for trainer Scott Di Domenico and his Triple D Stables Inc.
In the headliner trot, Tetrick also made a pace-controlling move early with the Father Patrick gelding Pedal On Metal, who then lived up to his name by dashing clear by five lengths at the wire in 1:54.3. Now three-for-four on the local scene, Pedal On Metal is co-owned by trainer Anette Lorentzon with ACL Stuteri AB and Kjell Johansson.
“Timmy T” won in about every fashion: three times setting the pace, one from the pocket, once first-over and once coming from seventh at the three-quarters.
Racing continues Thursday at 12:25 p.m., with a Hi-5 carryover of $2,722.59 going into the card’s third race. Friday’s program, starting at the same time, has racing for Pennsylvania Sire Stakes (four divisions) and Stallion Series (five divisions) two-year-old trotting males, a certain challenge for handicappers at all levels. Program pages for all races at Harrah’s Philadelphia will be available on the PHHA website.
