Hiawatha Horse Park's leading driver Nick Steward joined forces with the Gord McDonnell stable to give both of their win totals a boost on Saturday night at the racetrack in Sarnia, Ont.

Steward won five of the program's 10 races at Hiawatha for the second consecutive Saturday night in July.

The 24-year-old reinsman teamed up with McDonnell for four wins with Taylorlane Fancy ($3.40) in the opener, Damsels Deuce ($6.60) in race four, Johnny Ridge ($11.70) in the sixth dash and Arlo Gram ($4) in the ninth.

Steward also won the second race with Larry Fitzsimmons' maiden-breaking sophomore colt Jake Parrish ($6) to complete a sweep of the early Daily Double.

Steward leads all Hiawatha drivers with 24 wins on the season while McDonnell's four wins on Saturday catapulted him to the top of the trainer standings. His stable now has nine wins so far this meet for a two-point lead over Donald Rankin Jr.

Hiawatha Horse Park participated in the Bring A Friend promotion on Saturday, offering guests a chance to win rides in the starting gate car, make winner’s circle presentations, and take part in paddock tours and behind-the-scenes tours.
